From the Editor

Hi! Welcome to this May edition of the newsletter. Our April 6 meeting was a huge success with over 40 persons in attendance. I would like to thank Marco Ramos, Axel Robert, and Rory Rivera, who joined me that evening in discussing the challenges of Cloud Computing. I also wish to thank our sponsor, Mr. Luis A. Zayas of R&D Systems Group, Inc., who provided the food, refreshments, and an interesting presentation of their products.

On May 26, 2011, La Camara de Comercio de Puerto Rico and Microsoft has invited members of the Puerto Rico Cloud Computing User Group to attend the luncheon meeting where Mr. Kevin Turner, Chief Operatons Officer of Microsoft will talk on how Cloud Computing will benefit and increase the productivity of Puerto Rico organizations.

As a reader of the Info-Cloud Newsletter, you can participate in this event at the price of a member of the Camara de Comercio. To obtain this special rate, please register here. The Camara de Comercio will contact you for the arrangement of payment.

I am also including links to presentations that have been made lately at the activities of the Puerto Rico Cloud Computing User Group (PRCCUG).

As always, please send suggestions and comments to jrobles@coqui.net or visit www.johnrrobles.com. If you no longer wish to receive the Info-Cloud Puerto Rico Cloud Computing (and Green Computing) User Group enewsletter, unsubscribe.

ENJOY!

In the wake of last week's outage of EC2 and RDS, Amazon will run a series of webinars about architecture and best practices.
The first in the series, about building fault-tolerant applications, will run May 2.

Amazon also published the technical details of the causes of the EC2 and RDS problems last week. The short summary is router error, stuck volumes, a re-mirroring storm and thread starvation.
