The Puerto Rico Cloud Computing (and Green Computing) User Group (PRCCUG)

On May 13, 2010, the Puerto Rico Cloud Computing (and Green Computing) User Group had its first meeting. Results of the meeting included the planning for our first User Group meeting. In this first meeting of PRCCUG we will invite Cloud Computing and Green Computing vendors to participate in a panel discussion on the use of these technologies in Puerto Rico. Our audience will include interested persons in government, as well as, private enterprises. Our agenda for the year will include the formation of the group with the a board of directors and a work plan to stimulate discussions of Cloud Computing and Green Computing in Puerto Rico.

If you are interested in being part of this new group, please contact me. Let me know what your interests are and if you're willing to be part of the organizing committee. An important part of this newsletter is the identification of professional associations that provide training and seminars to information technology, governance, security, and other professionals in Puerto Rico. We will publish all activities and seminars of these associations so that each professional can select which seminar or training to attend for their own professional growth, as well as, the accumulation of Continuing Professional Credits for their certification requirements.

PRiMEX is a private non-profit organization, organized in 1986 through the initiative of Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) and the Manufacturing Extension Partnersip (MEP), a program under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). As a part of a national network, PRiMEX supports the needs of all Puerto Rico's small and medium enterprises (SME's) by providing services to improve their business processes.   More information.

The Puerto Rico PASS Chapter is a volunteer and independent organization providing a community for SQL server professionals. Their mission is to provide members with a forum for education, facilitate networking and access to information, seminars and events.  More information.

ISOCPR is the Puerto Rico Chapter of the Internet Society. It serves professionals interested in the use, evolution and open development of the Internet for the benefit of all people in Puerto Rico and throughout the World. Created in the United States in 1992, the Internet Society is a non-profit entity dedicated to safeguarding the best interests of the Internet as well as stimulate its use throughout the globe.  More information.

PMIPR is the Puerto Rico chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI). It was founded in 1998 and currently has over 300 members. It serves professionals that work or are interested in Project Management.  More information.

The “Colegio de CPA de Puerto Rico” was established by law in 1973. It serves all persons practicing public accounting are obligated to be members of the “Colegio”. It provides training and services to promote professional excellence.   More information.
