Here's an interesting article from the August 2009 edition of the IIA's Internal Auditor magazine. It discusses how Internal and Information Technology (IT) auditors establish their importance to organizations as consultants and individuals who provide value-added contributions during the the audit process. These auditors are risk assessment and internal control specialists who help management analyze risks to the organization and design controls to mitigate those risks. ISSA Puerto Rico is the local chapter of the Information Systems Security Association® (ISSA). ISSA is the largest international, not-for-profit association specifically for security professionals. The local chapter was established in 1984 and currently has approximately 270 members. PMIPR is the Puerto Rico chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI). It was founded in 1998 and currently has over 300 members. It serves professionals that work or are interested in Project Management.  More information.

PRiMEX is a private non-profit organization, organized in 1986 through the initiative of Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) and the Manufacturing Extension Partnersip (MEP), a program under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). As a part of a national network, PRiMEX supports the needs of all Puerto Rico's small and medium enterprises (SME's) by providing services to improve their business processes.   More information.

The Puerto Rico chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors was founded in 1973. It serves internal audit professionals in municipal, state and federal government as well as private corporations and financial institutions.  More information.
