The Business Continuity Institute has some good guidelines on developing and maintaining Business Continuity Plans. Their mission statement is really short and simple - “To promote the art and science of business continuity management”. Their Certification Program references 10 subject matters. It is good reading for those IT or Business Continuity professionals responsible for development and maintaining Business Continuity plans |

Professional Associations |
An important part of this newsletter is the identification of professional associations that provide training and seminars to information technology, governance, security, and other professionals in Puerto Rico. We will publish all activities and seminars of these associations so that each professional can select which seminar or training to attend for their own professional growth, as well as, the accumulation of Continuing Professional Credits for their certification requirements. |
ISACA Puerto Rico is the local chapter of ISACA - an international association that serves IT Governance professionals. The local chapter was established in 1984 and currently has approximately 270 members. They offer the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certifications. More information on ISACA. The monthly activity is: There will be no activities during the months of June and July. ISACA will resume their monthly activities in August. |

InfraGard is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) program that began in the Cleveland Field Office in 1996. It was a local effort to gain support from the information technology industry and academia for the FBI’s investigative efforts in the cyber arena. The Puerto Rico chapter has been active for 1 year. More information. Request membership. The FBI - San Juan office is setting up a "Working Group/Task Force" that will focus on Cyber Crimes against Financial Institutions. They are currently looking for IT personnel, Information Security Officers, and related personnel from Banks, Cooperatives, and other financial institutions to be part of the Task Force. Their mission will be to share intelligence, information, and alerts among them, concerning “hackers” and other Cyber criminals and their activities against financial institutions in Puerto Rico.
